Why Kuryk will play a key role in the development of the Trans-Caspian route

Semurg Invest Business Development Director Madina Anet told how the Kazakh port of Kuryk will play a key role in the future development of the Trans-Caspian route.

“The five main Semurg terminals will start operating in the near future. It is expected that the first part of the project will be launched in May this year. The construction of the first grain terminal with a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year is also close to completion, while the container terminal is in the design stage and is expected to be launched in 2024.

The construction of new terminals in the port of Kuryk will have a multiplier effect on the economy of Kazakhstan by creating new jobs, increasing transit traffic and trade, and will also allow our country to have a choice of export routes.

Semurg Invest is interested in cooperation with co-investors.

For example, the construction of a container terminal is being carried out as part of a cooperation agreement signed in January with a port operator from the UAE AD Ports during Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Abu Dhabi,” Madina Anet notes.
